Whitman Crew, operated by Whitman Crew Boosters, is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.  It is a competitive community club composed of student athletes from the Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, Maryland. Approximately 100-athletes strong, split equally among our men and women’s squads, Whitman Crew is one of the largest, and one of the only year round sports offered to Whitman high school students. Entering our 29th year of operation, we continue to compete at a very high level, and typically have top performing and winning boats at most regattas we enter.

Whitman Crew trains out of Thompson Boat Center (TBC) in Georgetown, but competes locally, regionally and on the national level each year. Our collective commitment to growing strong rowers, who evolve into focused and principled student athletes is a hallmark of the team’s mission.

Our commitment and quality of athlete has earned our team and our rowers recognition regionally and nationally. In turn, many of our rowers, at their choosing have the opportunity to attend and row for top universities and colleges throughout the country. In 2017 alone Whitman rowers were accepted to study and row at Bates, Cornell, Hamilton, Trinity and Wisconsin, to name a few.

Whitman Crew as a club based sport and allows a great opportunity for rowers and parents alike to become active, involved and passionate about one of the oldest and widely respected sports in the world.
