Spring
2005 (February 22 through May, 2005)
The Spring program
runs after school Monday through Friday from February 22 through
May. Some boats end their season in early May while other boats
end their season in late May. Weekday transportation between Whitman
High School and Thompson’s Boat Center is provided by chartered
bus. In addition to weekday practices, there are regattas on most
Saturdays. Rowers are expected to participate during
Spring break the week of March 28 when practices frequently are
run twice a day.
Registration for the Spring 2005 season is due Sunday, February
13, 2005. Registration is complete when you have:
1. Registered
your returning rower or new
rower online
2. Delivered
a valid health form to the registrar
3. Delivered
a $650 check to the registrar payable to Walt Whitman Crew Boosters.
Registration checks are not deposited until the team members are
announced later in February so it’s OK to deliver the check
early.
4. Passed a
Whitman Crew swim test. If you have passed one previously, you do
NOT need to take another swim test. For new rowers, the swim test
is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, February 13, 12-2 pm. Contact
Ruth Karimi for details. Rowers are not allowed on the water
until they have passed a swim test.
The registrar
is Melissa Cooperson, 5907 Wilson Lane, Bethesda MD 20817.
RETURNING
ROWERS
If you have
previously registered for the Winter Conditioning or Fall Learn
to Row programs, you are a returning rower. Before registering a
returning rower for the Spring season, first gather the following
information:
- Date of
last Tetanus shot
- Name of musical
ensemble, if any (specific name of choral or instrumental group
your teen participates in at Whitman – Treble Chorale, Advanced
Band, etc)
Login as an
existing user with the email address and password from
the Winter Conditioning and/or Learn to Row programs. Once you have
logged into the Ronin system, click ‘Register for
Another Event’, Search for ‘Spring’,
and register for Walt Whitman Spring Crew. Register
a returning rower online.
The registration
process should take less than 10 minutes since most information
(address, phone, insurance info, emergency contacts, etc) is already
in the Ronin registration system for most rowers from participation
in the Fall 2004 Learn to Row season and/or the Winter Conditioning
Program. In the Spring online registration process, you give various
permissions and can update any old information.
- If you are
lost at sea, we’ve got keystroke
by keystroke registration instructions for returning
rowers.
- If you know
your email address but have forgotten your Ronin password, there
is a link on the registration login screen to have your password
immediately emailed to you.
- If you have
forgotten the email address you previously registered with, not
to worry, just email support@roninracing.com.
NEW
ROWERS
If you have
never used the Ronin registration system you are a New Rower. Before
registering a new rower for the Spring season, first gather the
following information:
- Date of
last Tetanus shot
- Phone numbers
of TWO emergency contacts (neighbor/relative/etc.)
- Parent/rower
email IDs
- Physician

about 20 minutes to complete the online registration. Register
a new rower online.
- If you are
lost at sea, we’ve got keystroke
by keystroke registration instructions for new rowers.
It will be useful
to remember the email address you give since the primary email
address you give for the parent (or guardian) who registers
the rower will become your login email address for
future crew registrations.
