JUSTIN MANNING - ASSISTANT VARSITY COACH
Updated: November 17, 2006
Justin Manning brings over a decade of rowing and coaching experience
to the Whitman coaching staff. He spent the last 2 years coaching the
Freshman Lightweights at Georgetown University, leading his crews to 2
very successful seasons - ones that included a trip to the finals of
Eastern Sprints, as well as victories over Harvard, Dartmouth, Penn,
Rutgers, Delaware, and MIT, among others.
Prior to that, Manning coached for two storied high school teams in the
DC area. As head lightweight coach at Washington-Lee High School in
Arlington, Virginia, he led his 2004-05 varsity to an undefeated
regular season. That crew went on to take home a State Championship, a
Silver Medal at the prestigious Stotesbury Regatta in Philadelphia, and
the 2005 National Championship.
From 1999-2004, Manning served as an assistant coach at Thomas
Jefferson High School in Annandale, VA. He gained experience at all
levels within this championship program, guiding numerous crews to
medals at the state and regional level. A 1999 graduate of the
University of Virginia, Manning earned a B.A. in Business while rowing
for all four years.
