Silver, Bronze and Top Ten Time Trials

Whitman Crew traveled to the Stotesbury Cup Regatta this past weekend to compete the 91st year of this competitive race. All our entered boats went in with strong results this season, and with the determination to put together races to remember.

All six of our entered boats made it out of time trials, and four of those finished time trials in the top ten. Our Men's 1st Varsity 8 was 3rd in time trials, as was our Women's Freshman 8. The Women's 1st Varsity 8 came in 4th in time trials, the Women's 2nd Varsity 8 came in 8th and the Men's 2nd Varsity 8 came in 9th.

Our Women's Freshman 8 went on to race on Friday afternoon taking 1st in their semi-final heat, and ultimately earned our first medal with bronze in their final. The Men's Freshman 8 finished 5th in their semi-final and didn't advance.

On Saturday, racing got underway early and the Men's 2nd Varsity 8 placed 6th in their semi-final, while the Women's 2nd Varsity 8 finished 5th in their semi. Both boats fought hard throughout.

In the Women's 1st Varsity 8 semi-final Whitman finished 1st advancing to finals, and later in the day brought home a Silver 2nd place finish for the program. The Men's 1st Varsity 8 finished 4th in their semi-final and moved onto the petite final. They finished 6th in that race.

For our program overall it was the culmination of a hard driving season, that hasn't ended yet. After our WMIRA finish a number of the Whitman Boats have qualified and will race this coming weekend at the SRAA National Championship.
